Hi, I was thinking about putting a 360 crank in a 401 block. Would it be worth the trouble & what would be involved to do it?
Thanks Grant

It would be very little trouble - but why? You would need to either change pistons or have some custom made..

Do you want to destroke the 401 for RPM purposes? :) An AMC 401 can wind out like hell... :)

I agree w/CJ, that it would be of little trouble.
As far as de-stroking for RPM potential, I don't see that replacing a forged reciprocating assembly with a cast reciprocating assembly, even of shorter stroke would extend you RPM's by much. I'd be more worried about oiling issues, & valve train problems.;)

Exactly...

401 = forged

360 = cast

:)

But a destoked 401 would be badd <-BAD WORD->! The upper rpm potential would be :)
