We got to Moab Saturday evening. We were supposed to meet the other Jeep enthusiasts Monday morning. Gert and I met up with Vaughn who I had talked to a few times on the phone and also had texted with several times. He and his family were staying in a cabin and Gert and I were tent camping right next door. So we decided to take a shakedown easy ride on Sunday afternoon. Can’t recall the trail but it was a short drive northwest out of town.

It was mainly a sandy trail and at the end of it a short hike up a rocky area and a pretty cool cave about 300 feet that came out on the backside of the small rocky hill with some pretty nice views. Jeep worked well. Great write up so far. Looong ways from home for ya, especially in a CJ. Awesome adventure though and I’m guessing you wouldn’t trade it.

Exactly. Driving out there with Gert was a great experience in an open Jeep and a lot of fun. Got many waves from people and kids. The Moab part was just the icing on the cake. It’s like all the skin cancer things I’ve been dealing with the last 30 years. It was caused by all the fun I had growing up as a kid, but I wouldn’t trade any of that for $10 million now. Life has been a great ride. Sure there have been some bumps on the road.

It was Monday morning and time to meet up with the rest of the Jeep enthusiasts. And pretty much right out of the shoot we head down the road into town 2 - 3 miles to fill up and get breakfast. Problem is my Jeep just dies. I coast into the gas station and into a parking spot. Next thing was pop the hood to see what’s up. The buzzards start circling also handing out cards and offering to help for a fee. Even some of the people we are meeting up with pull into fill up. The MSD box I bought a couple days before is acting up Gert thinks. This was actually the first day it had. We get it going and go across the street and pick up a coil since it seems to be a fire problem.

We finally meet up with the group and head to the trail. Everything seem To be good and we have a great day. The trail was “ Top of the World “. What a great trail. Been hearing about it for decades. The CJ commercials back in the 80s Would show the Jeeps up there. Bucket list trail right there the first day. A couple of pictures below.

These mountains here are in a lot of my pictures from different angles and trails. 059E2F7A-7F9A-4DB2-8A29-4EEC9C4A05E3.jpegC44ECCE2-1D74-4835-A75E-90FED117F4D3.jpegDEAB2FB8-7933-4CC2-AEDD-134E43ACB99B.jpeg

Great storytelling!
That little range of mountains is the La Sals, squashed up on the CO-UT border.
Makes for extremely contrasting photos if they’re in the background on your slickrock adventures.

Hell, those mtns are in my avatar photo!

I noticed that last week. D97DFF61-C9A9-4D35-9E58-F2240167686F.jpeg
