Steering Box Support BY Warrior - Purchased from Quadratec - link
INTRODUCTION:
The stock PS box bracket is a 2 peice stamped steel unit that was designed for use with factory sized tires. When you add bigger meats you'll often find the need to beef up your steering box to eliminate play in the steering caused by the box flexing on the frame. This unit partly addresses that problem. As you can see , it is a much stronger unit when compared to stock..

Note that I'm also replacing an old leaky box in this application, hence the different color. I also have the spring off because this entire project actually took place in the middle of a lift install :).
I wont go into great detial on the install except to say that the box uses the stock mounting locations. You basically have to disconnect the column from the box, remove the 2 bolts that are on top of the crossmember, and then remove several more bolts that are in the frame.
What often happens with 20 year old jeeps is that the nuts that are tack welded in the frame have come loose over the years. I had 2 break. There are several ways to fix this, but what I did was cut into the frame to access the nuts..:
bend the cut section back to I could get in there...
Then I tack welded the new nuts in place threw the new opening. After that I simply closed the hole back up and welded it shut
then painted it over with POR15
And that was it. I obviously had a few more things going on there since I replaced the power sterring box at the same , and the entire thing happened in the middle of a lift install, but you get the general idea :) .
