Can any of you more knowledgable mechanics POSITIVELY identify this Transfer case simply from the photograph? I "think" it is a Dana 20, but if i could be certain without removing the TC, It would be helpful. It is in a Jeep 1975 CJ5 V8, which i "think" is a 304, and which i "think" has a T150...

My t20 transfer case in my 79 CJ7 is worn and I'd like to rebuild it. I would also like to increase the gear ratio. Any pointers as to who to go to for the parts needed for this? I have an email into Novak, but am looking for other leads as well.

I recently bought my first CJ mostly as a deer lease vehicle. I’ve wanted one since I was a kid listening to stories my dad would tell about his (‘74 CJ5 with the 304 V8). I knew it would need work eventually; It is much older than I am after all, but I wasn’t expecting it would be so soon...

From what I've read on the net it looks like a striaghtforward swap. Has anyone done it? What could go wrong at each end? -Input shaft could have different splines... I don't know how the transfer case hooks to the trans so I am only assuming that it's the same for both transmissions...
