WHat if any major mod would be involved in a 1" body lift? My thinking is that if I do this I won't have to do a body off resto next year that the lift will give me enough room for a couple of body mount repairs. I did a three inch body lift on a chevy truck and thats way too much for the jeep.

With a 1" you might need to lengthen the clutch push rod. A good reason to go to a hydraulic clutch.

Maybe opening up the Transfer Case cutout. The lever gets bumped and pops you out of 4WD.

I had another 4 wheel drive that had a hydraulic clutch, i'll never again have one.

It sure beats losing the clutch when the frame is all twisted off road.

Only 1" should not require altering the clutch linkage other than lengthening the pushrod a bit. No need to go hydraulic. You could drop the mount on the body side of the bellcrank, but only if you have issues or if you don't like the slight tilt.

The position of the bell crank is not affected with a body lift. The bell crank pivots are on the bell housing and frame rail.

Not true.

Original post has an '81. Here is a shot of my '82. Notice new stock height body bushings and bellcrank attached to the body in the OE position.

Other end is mounted on the bell housing, so... body goes up, bellcrank gets skewed. Like I said earlier, only 1" of lift won't tweak it much.

Just curious, are any vehicles made with non-hydraulic clutch now-a-days?

There a chance that if you dont repostion the body attachment for the Z bar aka clutch linkage you may flex when off camber and the bar drops out.

looks like mtnbikeidaho may have an aftermarket bracket.. maybe??

you dont have to move it but imagine being on the side of a rock or obstacle slowly feathering your way out of a roll over when your weight shifts and the zbar drops out throwing you into gear..

you decide.

Z-bar (bellcrank) and bracket are not aftermarket...but brand new replacements from Crown/Omix/Rugged Ridge. BUT that photo is with STOCK height body mounts...not 1" lift. That's why there is no skew. :)
