Lucked into a dealer that had a few of the Flowmaster , diamond plate off road mufflers. A quck run to the pipebender and I have a new , offroad worthy exhaust. The mufflers are SUPER strong. 12 Gauge diamond plate....they sound GREAT too!

I am only making this comment because you titled this " off road exhaust":

In the pic at least the position of your pipes and mufflers seems to put them at risk off-road. Although the cases may be strong they & the pipes would probably not withstand having the weight of the jeep on them when squeaking over a tall rock. The reason rocker guards and rock rails are so popular is that obstacles often get up into the very area where your exhaust is mounted. I noted you already have some dents to the bottom of your rocker. Take a straight edge from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the rocker and, according to the view in the pic, it looks like you will find the exhaust now being the lowest point there.

:agree: Not trying to be a smart behind but what he said is true. They would be better tucked up under the jeep.

To each his own....guess you can't see the cross member that is about 6" lower than the exhaust....and I didn't even need a straight edge...but, haven't bent either yet so if I do, I 'll consider moving it.
The body is fiberglass so I am not sure what you are referring to re dents in the rocker? Could be some black paint overspray-it's not a show jeep. There are quite a few things that need fixed , getting them done little by little....so far no cracks to the tub either. If you get a chance take a look at these mufflers "live", I actually think they would support the weight of the jeep....the tubing, yep, it will crush if I hit it. However, I have seen quite a few jeeps with the pipes run out the back-and the tail pipe gets crushed pretty quickly. For me, I am going to give this a try and see if it holds up any better

Time wil tell, but, again, if I squash it-which is a distinct possibility, I will follow advice on this thread and move it "in board". If you have any pictures of how you have yours done "in-board", that will help...wouldn't be the first time I was wrong and had to "re-do". No problem, appreciate the advice!!! I am especially interseted in how to run the tail pipes!!!!

Also-I need some advice on fabbing the winch mount for the front. I am going to inquire BEFORE I start putting it together!!!!

For fabbing a winch mount I would have to suggest copying a Warn mount for your year CJ, those guys have a lot of experience in that field.

This is mine Warn 8000 with a Warn universal mount that I have both bolted to the frame rails and welded to both the frame and the bumper.

I used a 1/4" Plate, and welder :D

I think it came out pretty nice, and has been strong enough to hold everything I've pulled!

As for the exhaust placement, my Uncle and I both have ours in the same place with fenderwell headers... We've both crushed our pipes down a little during rubicon run... It will happen if you wheel it hard and dont watch your line closely, but it'll be alright until its not lol
:D

Incommando, Olddog,
Got a chance to (finally) do some offroading, and, you guys were RIGHT. Not a good choice where I had the exhaust routed.....sooooo, back to the tube bender and a new exhaust (but kept the flow master offroad muffs). I think this will work MUCH beter. Left side the tubing and Muffler are almost completely above/ protected by the frame. On the right side the Transfer Case would not allow as high of a tuck, BUT, will still be protected by the skid-plate once I add one. As you can see, the tail pipes are well protected and, I can drag the rear bumper and or (God Forbid) the springs/shackles and NOT touch the tail pipes. Attached a couple of pics for you to see. Also, you can't see this, but, I made Aluminum heat shields and brackets that are welded to the muffs. The floor heat is almost non existent now!
