i'm tring to find out what all years of tops will fit my 95 wrangler. i hope i posted this under the right forum. i'm very new this sight but will be thankfull for any info i can get.

Well, because the CJ7 and YJ wrangler tubs are the same dimensions CJ7 tops will fit on a YJ. And vice versa. The problem is the lift gate on the top. Because the CJ7 has a tailgate (folds down) and the YJ has a swing gate (swings open to the passenger side) the lift gaes closes differently.

On a CJ7 top the liftgate of the top closes over the tailgate. So, it's tailgate of the CJ, liftgate of the top, then the tire carrier. On a YJ top the liftgate closes first, then the swing out gate closes.

So, really any CJ7 (76-86) or YJ Wrangler (87-95) top will fit. It's just with a CJ7 top the rear liftgate is different.

thank you for your reply!! i think i've just found me a nice hard top! would you know how i can tell what year the hard top is?:chug:

thanks for the pics! the top is a diffently a cj it does not have the vents. but a cj what i don't know? i'm pretty sure a CJ7 is about 10inches longer than a CJ5 is this correct.i greatly appreciate the info.i'm pretty new to jeeps but plan to be around for a while.my 95's soft top is in bad shape and she (my wife) starts when i start spending money on projects. the top i have found is in pretty good shape and i can get it for $100.00:D i have lots of plans for this 95 wrangler. it looks to have about 6inches of lift and sitting on 33's but has a 4cylinder under the hood. after getting the top i'm going to try a swap to stock AMC 304 i found with 21,000 miles. that were i think the fun will begin. but i think this sight will help me a lot just as you have!!!!:chug:

sorry to bother again. how can i tell how much of a lift in the suspension i have. i never had or worked on a auto with one!

If the top you're looking at looks the like picture with tan CJ7 top, it's almost without a doubt a CJ7 top. There is no such an animal as a factory CJ5 hardtop, only aftermarket one. And if you're getting for $100, I very highly doubt it's a CJ8 hardtop.

Lifts are tough to determin, given age, brand. Do you have pictures?

no i don't have any pics, but as soon as i get a chance to figure out how to include picture with my reply i will.
