304 3spd swap with 2.5 4spd

My first post, thanks for having me! I have a 1979 CJ5 with the AMC 304 V8 and the 3spd stock Transmission . The body is rusted out and too far gone to repair. I recently bought a 1980 CJ5 to use the body since it was in good shape. It came with a 2.5 4cyl and a 4spd Transmission I assume was stock. My question is, would the AMC 304 out of the 79 bolt in the 80 frame that had the 2.5. Also, would the AMC 304 bolt in to the 4spd from the 2.5? Thanks!

The biggest question is WHAT 4 speed do you have?
Some will hold up to an '8' and some won't last long.
If you can post pictures of the tranny w/t'case. and any numbers you find on said tranny, we can ID it for you.
The swap is pretty much a bolt in as the frame is drilled for the differnt engine mounts. Same goes for the tranny skid plate. You must likely will need to switch bell-housings.

The input shaft will also have to be swapped out (10 spline vs. 14 spline). if it's anything other than a T-176 , don't bother. It will either be a T-176 , SR4 , or T-4 . And to reverb what LG said, you WILL need a different bell housing.
