I'm currently trying to collect everything I need for my 4.0 head swap, so far I have the head ordered from odessa cylinder head should be home soon, I have the intake manifold with injectors, exhaust manifold, and wiring harness from an automatic 92 XJ. I need to order the Damper/CPS from hesco, air intake, and Transmission kick-down. The computer was already gone so I don't have that, my question is does it matter what computer I get (auto or manual)? If I have to get the auto can I just splice into the neutral safety switch from my original harness so it can start. Also if I use the E200 fuel pump do I need a pressure regulator? Lastly should I get the distributor and coil from an XJ or will I be fine running the OEM CJ distributor and ignition system?

I am afraid I can not answer the question but I have one for you,

What are you using for a crank position sensor??

Ok I just did this swap. But it was on a manual Transmission . You are going to need the xj dist and coil. Also you will need an O2 sensor and vehicle speed sensor from hesco. As far as the computer goes it doesnt really matter. You will just need to ground the brown with yellow stripe wire coming from the computer. Also if you want to use the cj starting system and charging system you will need to go to radio shack and get a diode. They're like $2.00. It will need to be soldered into the brown alternator field wire. As far as the pressure reg, the fuel rail should have one on it. If you have any other questions you can pm me. I just did this swap like a week ago. So it is still fresh in my mind.

Is the Hesco speed sensor a 4 pulse? as in GM TBI computer compatible??

Im not sure it has two wires on it. Seen people use a mid 90's dekota vss. The one from hesco has a connection for the speedo cable. The cherokee vss has no output for the speedo cable on the cj. Since the cherokee has a electronic speedometer.

I have a 92 xj ecu too and used its vss, it has been 6 years since I did mine I don't recall how I wired it sorry.
