I just can't figure out what gear sets I want to go with. Both cost the same and give the same results per the gear charts. Advice please. Running 35" tires. I will never go bigger...

I have the 4.10 gear w/35s and it is sluggish on steep high altitude hills but O.K. on the freeway for short trips, fyi.

What gears do you have now?
You said on JF that you drive 100 miles to get to some trails,
How fast do you drive in route. Both 4:56's and 4:88's are going to have you reved up pretty good at 65 mph.

I currently have 3:54's now. I drive anywhere from 65 to 70 mph...

IMHO with the AMC 304 and T-18 I think you would be happier with the 4:56's.
The 4:88's might be a little to much for the highway.

4:88's if you're going to trailer it to the trails.
4:56's if you ever intend to drive it over 45 mph again! (You could always add an Overdrive tranny :))

Perfect guys, thanks...
