64 cj5 engine swap

Wonderin if there is an engine that will fit in my cj with out any drastic mods. V8 or V6 that will bolt right in or even straight six. Have been told over the years that a studebaker flat six will fit any ideas.

Im pretty sure the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 is the best swap for you. Ill let some of the other members who know older CJ,s chime in though.

The Stude six used to be the swap of choice before the V-6 came along. Tight fit though.

Yes, strait 6's are a bit long for the older CJ5 's. I'd go with CJ's suggestion and get a Dauntless Buick 225 V6 .

I did the 4.3 TBI in my 54 went in fairly easy
No major issues

What did you use to mate the engine to the Transmission is there a bellhousing that fits or did you buy a kit like the one Novak offers
