After 5 years of setting in the carport I started working on my 66 CJ5 . I put a battery in it primed the carb and she started right up.
I drove her down the dirt road I live on just to find out there are NO brakes. The left front wheel cyl blew out. No big deal I was only going About 10 MPH.
Anyway I noticed the left rear wheel was wobbling very bad. I put the rear axle on jack stands and turned the rear tires by hand and sure enough the axle is bent. This is what I found when I pulled the hub off the axle.

Now I need to find an axle.

that is a Dana 44 axle??

welcome back bro, long time no see.:D

Yes it is a Dana 44 this is the original rear for my 66.
I ordered an axle from Amazon. I get good boy points at work and trade them in for Amazon gift cards.
Thanks for the welcome back. I've been looking in ever now and then and wishing I could find time to work on the 66. I just decided to get out there and do it.

Of course it is, just earlier than I am familiar with. saw 66 and thought 76.

That is quite a twist.

Yikes! That is quite a pic, like from getting a rock jammed up into the fender. Not from sitting in a carport, of course.

I bought this jeep about 5 years ago from a guy in South Carolina. There's no telling what it was put through before I got it. He had 3 other jeeps all newer and setup for off road.
I don't think he had a problem putting any jeep through rough stuff.
