hey all!

its been a while since i posted... life got in the way...

i have all new auto meter gauges in the dash, and a new painless harness #10106...

all of the gauges light up and dim with the HL switch, none of them work yet since i JUST got the engine back in and none are hooked up, nor does the engine run yet

my question is: the harness has a bunch of wires labelled for the original cluster (volt gauge, speedo, etc) are these going to be left unused since i have all new and different gauges, or do they provide a signal for the gauge, regardless of make/model?

i understand the tach, oil, temp, and volts all come from under the hood independently, but i am unsure of the rest of these...

any help is greatly appreciated!

You can get a wiring diagram thru Prospero's Garage if you don't have one.

thanks Torx... i have the TSM, and the cheesy one that came with the painless kit...

im just wanting to know if all of those danglies are going to be used to feed the new gauges...

i'll check out prospero... one can never have too much info!

The only thing you listed that you didn't already answer yourself was the speedo. My guess this would be either for illumination or +12v for an electric speedo.

What other gauges or wires are left over. Don't think you mentioned the fuel gauge, but that is pretty straight forward.
