77 cj5 compatible with what years and models?

I have a 1977 CJ5 that i just recently purchased and i already need a new steel body tub and steel front end because the fiberglass flexed to much and put a whole in my radiator but i need to know what years are compatible with with it and i also need to know if the models can be different like if i found parts froma 77 CJ7 would they fit. Please Help me out! thanks!

the fenders off a 7 should fit, but the tub will be too different.

mostly anything from '76 to '82 (?) CJ5 stuff will be a direct replacement, with minor variations.

the earlier stuff would probably take too much work to make fit.

Well i found quite a few 83 CJ7 parts like half doors and full doors and a soft top and bikini top and a T-5 Transmission and such parts like that will they fit on my 77 CJ5 ?

The bikini top and the Transmission will fit ( with a different bellhousing , Transfer Case and driveshaft ) but none of the doors or the top will fit.

cj 5s come in 3 versions, 55 to 71, 72 to 75, and 76 and later,
usually parts interchange within those categories.

Well i found out that most of that wont fit which is a bummer but i found a 74 CJ5 in good condition im going to try and get but another question moving the spacer on the fan isnt going to effect anything will it? i looked and made sure it wasnt hitting and its all in the clear i kinda wanna upgrade it to electric fans ha and if im going to fix everything do any of you think i should upgrade the body to steel or keep everything fiberglass let me know. thank you!
