I have a 1978 CJ7 and am having issues with the wiring. The headlights wont turn on. the lights themselves are good and there is power to the connector. while the headlight switch is on the taillights work but the turn signals will not work. If the switch is off the signals work. I have power to all the right places as far as i can tell but have no product. Any ideas?

This is usually a dimmer switch prob. That is the floor button switch for changing low to high beams. Try replacing that first.

x2 mine did the same thing and to fix I had to just clean the plug to it and connector on switch.

I think the two most common problems with a CJ involve bad electrical grounds and vacuum leaks.
I don't think this is a vacuum leak problem.:D

i had to change my dimmer too. i also ran a ground wire from my battery to the chasis anf that helped alot

Thanks everyone. I tried cleaning the plug and that didnt work so I'll try the new dimmer switch. I did the ground from the batt to the body. I will let ya know how it goes.

ok i did all of the above but nothing happened. now what i did find is that where the headlights are spose to be gronded is actually producing power. so here i go yet again.
