79 Carburetor Rebuild

1 have a 79 CJ5 with a ford 2 barrel carburetor on it that is in dire need
of rebuilding. throttle pump leaks and creates quite a "smell" of gasoline.
got any idea about where i can find a kit online??

man that should be the factory carb. jeep used the motorcraft 2100 on v8 jeeps in the 70's. you should be able to go down to your local parts store and pick up a rebuild kit for around $15. if your really unsure get the numbers off of the carb and take em with you they will be able to find out what carb it is and get you the right kit for it. you can order them from www.advanceautoparts.com www.autozone.com www.oreilysautoparts.com www.napa.com www.summitracing.com www.quadratec.com well you get the idea

would there be a reason you would not go down to the local parts house and pick one up?? the MC 2100 is not an endangered species and a kit shouldn't be more than $20 just about anyplace. You have a V8??

im thinkin his confusion is: Jeep - ford carb - not factory - what do i do? but it is a factory carb most likely i'd say 95% chance

local auto parts (privateer) wants $50.00 for the kit... further inspection
revealed that carb was built in 78 and is a california only setup!!
(it's amazing what happens when you open the manual) got any ideas on how to change carb to a 49 stater??

yep order you a new holley 2 bbl from somewhere, find you a old mc2100 from a ford, get you a 4bbl intake and put any carb you like on it, get you a reman carb from napa or somewhere, convert it to fuel injection. if you don't have to worry about emissions the sky is the limit.
