Accessory switch doesnt work

Sometime ago I replaced my steering column with a rebuilt one. It works fine but when you turn the key to the accessory position nothing happens. The replacement column had the old key cylinder. Could that be the problem? Any ideas?

Could be that the key cylinder is out of timing with the rack/pinion gear inside the column or the actual ignition switch under the dash and on the outside of the column could be out of adjustment or the actuator rod isn't in the correct hole in the switch.
Those are my e-guesses.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Its a small thing but it's annoying. If I can rebuild my tranny I should be able to fix this.

I can relate to that. I've rebuilt everything on my Cj with bearings in it....Now I'm trying to figure out how electricity isn't getting to my engine

I finally got around to this issue and it turned out to be one of those EASY fixes, which are rarer than hens teeth and that's rare. Anyway, all I had to do is loosen the two screws securing the switch that's attached to the column and move it rearward about 1/8 of an inch so the rod could engage the accessory switch. Easy, free and satisfying!
