I need someone's help- Where do the (air, temp & defrost) dash pull cables go? Specifically, which one goes to which lever on the plastic blower assembly under the dash?

I "restored" my Jeep and it had been a couple of years since I busted the old cables out. As far as the new cables go, two of them are the same length and the third one is longer.

Someone had a similar question on the end of a thread labeled "How to instal knob bezels" back in March of 2013, but it never got answered so I am hoping I have better luck.

Thanks in advance! This is one of a handful of things I never completed once the Jeep was dune-able.

If you don't get a answer by the time I get home from work tomorrow I will look at mine and let you know.

Ok so on your center pic your temp is the one on the left and the defrost is the one on the right and the air is up above and will be the longer cable. Hope this helps.

:notworthy:I appreciate your help mtnwhlr! thanks so much for helping me out in this way!

It is a big deal to me and even a little progress makes me happy. Those pull cables have been sitting on the work bench for months.

I realize it's a little late, but this may help too;

I've just received the same set of control cables. I cannot find any instructions on how to install them. Do you remove the knob to insert the cable through the dash? Does the silver plastic cap separate from the cable to rest on the outside of the dash? I want to be sure before I go pulling things.

No, they all go in from the front of the dash thru the square hole and the side clips lock them in place. (squeeze them to remove) Don't pull the knobs off or they'll never stay on again. The light switch knob is the only exception. The switch body has a button to release the knob and shaft together.

Working on this project right now, Need to replace the air/temp/defrost knobs and bezels. All the cables work fine but it seems like you have to replace everything to fix the knobs/bezels.

How difficult is it to change the cables without removing the dash?

Thanks!

You have to be a bit of a contortionist to get under the dash, it's a little easier with the passenger seat removed, but it is definitely a do-able job without having to remove the dash.

I just reworked mine. I didn't like the chrome plastic junk that was used as a bevel, so I used the metal bevels that are used for the fan, lights, and wiper. A little epoxy and wa-la! Looks pretty good. Rod
