Amc 20 axle dust sheild set me straight

- 1981 cj5 304 v8, 300 Dana,model 30 Dana and model 20 AMC rear end
I was wondering why the sheild only has 4 bolt holes and the rest has 5? What does the dent in the peice do? Do you bolt up the bottom bolt first then do the other four bolts?
