So after ruining my T-5 tranny I'm looking for different options and opinions. I was on the Novak Adapter website just reading up on things and started seeing what was on craigslist around my home town and came across this post.

Jeep TJ AX15

I was wondering how hard would this be to swap this in, is it worth it, how much changing would i be looking at doing. Money is a bit of a concern, but if i can make a slight upgrade spending a couple of dollars i might want to do that.

I was going to say that the AX-15 wont work in your Jeep due to the Transfer Case dropping on the wrong side, but I re-read novak's info and it looks like you might just need the "flip" adapter to install this.
It is possible to adapt the AX15 to the Jeep Dana 300 Transfer Case in passenger side and driver side drop by using Novak kit #153.
SO $167 and some work and your good to go!
Or I could be mis-reading and mis-informing 'cause I got about 1 hour sleep so far last night...lol.

great now I gotta go dig that Transmission I tossed on the scrap pile and see what it was exactly again!

The AX15 will work great, but as always it comes down to money, you will need the hydraulic clutch assy, maybe driveshafts, and a rotation plate for your Dana 300 Transfer Case , those are the big items

AX15 is the strongest tranny Jeep ever used
worth the effort
research it well and go for it
one thing to look for is the year of AX15 to go for, earlier ones have internal slave cylinders and latter ones have external ones
also, the XJ had AX15s for years also

I gotta call BS on that one point...The T-18 was and is rated to go into a 2 ton truck. Ever seen a AX15 in a 2 ton truck?

:chug:
