Right now i have the Dana 30 front and AMC20 2 piece rear.

i want to get wider.

after looking at axle choices for a 1 piece rear i notice they state "narrow" or "wide" trac. i would assume i have narrow trac as they dont stick out much.

now for some questions.

how much wider is wide than narrow trac? would i be better off getting a wide trac rear axle and wheel spacers in the front? is that even a proper set up? or do i need to get the wide trac front axles as well? suggestions?

Narrow track axles are 53 inches wheel to wheel.
In '82 they went to wide track. That's 56 inches wide.

so wide track in the rear would be 56 and if i did wheel spacers in the front that would be only 54.25 - 54.5

does anyone run this set up? would it be recommended? would the front be noticeably narrower (without looking from the front)?

I have 1.5 inch wheel spacers on my '79 CJ5 .
That works out to 56 inches, the same as a wide track. (1.5 inches wider per wheel or 3 inches total per axle)
It does help out my stance. My tires stick out a little more but they always stuck out. (36x12.5-15 SuperSwampers)

IMHO i'd look for some w/t axles, I'm not a fan of wheel spacers.

Superior, Moser, or ten X is the top 3, not much differance IMO.
