Can anyone ID this axle?

looks like a 44 to me. Is it your jeep?

Made note of it during the initial crawl around but never recalled the note until I went out offroading and kept hearing a clunk on good bumps. I crawled under it today to see what might be going on and was like OH YEAH forgot about this.

It's a Dana 44 I figure from a rubicon. It has the small tube, vent and larger hole for the connection into the case. Had a picture of it but the camera ate it, LOL.

Who knew, LOL. Now to figure out what gear ratio it has.

If it is a stock Rubicon, it will be 4:10, and there should be a connection for the locker. It is an airlocker, that uses a small compressor under the hood, really small. I believe that it is vacuum, IIRC. It has been a few years since messing with it.

The larger port where the wires go in is plugged. There is a vent line. Also a small vacuum line. However someone ran two wires right behind the diff cover, those lead to a switch on the dash. So further investigation is needed.

Anyone come across a write up on a rubi axle swap into a tj/lj?

How did you dook up all the lines?
Mine appears to have just the 2 wires going in the front of the diff cover,
how does the vaccum work?
Gota get my LJ shop manual out.

You have to have the compressor. I was lucky, and got the compressors with the axles. Mounted them under the hood, ran the wires to two separate switches in the cab, and then to the axle. In stock form, you have to have bothe axles locked, or just the rear, and only in 4 low. I set it up to turn them on individually, any range. Hopefully they didn't buther the wiring into the axle, or you will have to pull the cover. Not sure where you can find the compressor from, like I said, I got lucky.

Haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Looks to be hooked up.
I have just a locker up front, stock unlimited Dana 44 rear with Limited slip.
I'll post more once I dig into it, maybe this weekend if it doesn't rain.
