Sorry guys & gals, I don't need an education on all the different T-18 's.

This is for a late 1980's (77,78,79) Wide ratio CJ T-18 . Yes, I know, not the long input shaft as is found on a truck, it has the short CJ input shaft.

What bell housing is adaptable, yes I've read what NOVAK has to say on the matter, to the CJ T-18 Transmission & bell housing. When I finally found a NEW, yes I said NEW bell housing it was listed as adaptable to the T-150 , T-176 & T-18 . My most trusted source believes that the T-18 had it's own stand alone bell housing. I'm following up, hopefully with someone that has direct experience or close to direct.

Interchangability like that is something that there just isn't there anymore, Good luck with your project.

Ended up being a moot point. When talking to Rob at Willys Works, we were talking about purchasing a Transmission . I'm thinking "Transmission ", He said I don't have time to rebuild it so I'll sell one to you for what I have in it, about $550. So, I said sure I can do that, thinking, "At least this will get me started." Stupid me. What I actually bought was a COMPLETE Transmission -Bell housing, fork, T-18 , Dana 20 . Very cool! I know the T-18 needs a rebuild kit and possibly a gear or two (dry, some rust, turns freely). No idea on the Transfer Case , but I'm planning on a Terra Low gear conversion, most of the guts will be going away anyway. So, yes there is another project coming from me that some enjoy and some simply tolerate. Being sensitive to those that tolerate me I'll try to keep it to a minimum. For me this is a big one folks, in the end the CJ will be mechanically all I ever wanted it to be.

Looking forward to it
Can I ask why you went with Terra Low rather than Lomax?

Lomax doesn't have a gear set for the Dana 20 . There are a couple others, like advanced adaptors, but they all look like the Terra Low sets. I'm open to other suggestions. I must say, these gear sets are getting expensive.

Oh that's right, I forgot they don't have em for the 20. Maybe you can find a cheap Dana 300 somewhere, then all you need is the ridiculously expensive adapter :D

In comparing all the options at least so far the Terra lows by Tera Flex seem to be the way to go.

Well sorta ..... Evidently Terra Flex is the parent company and some how Terra Low is or was the product name. The kit you have shown is for the D-18, the Dana 20 kit uses more gears ...5... I believe. The older kits have 4 gears and uses one of the stock gears, but the stock gear proved to be a weak point so another gear was added. In many places the Dana 20 Terra Low kit is just shy of $1,100. Kits can be found for less, but with all the different Dana 20 configurations I'm shy of them and will call the seller for more information.

While up to my elbows in the guts of the Dana 20 case I'm debating on whether or not to pull the pills making it both more versatile and easier to make mistakes with. About the only gain I can see is the ability to run the front only. ..... then there's the ability to lock her up front high and rear low to keep the unknowing thieves away. I guess there is another advantage. With the twin sticks I have now to go into 4wd low the it needs to shift it in the right combination with the rear shifting to low first and the front shifting to low second. With the pills gone you can shift any way you want. I do have a question though, with the pills gone can you feel the gears snap into place?
