1976 CJ-7, 360 V-8, Turbo 400 trans, Quadratrac, Dana 30 up front, AMC 20 in rear with LOKKA locker, Otherwise stock...and rusty, but FUN!
I have a 76 CJ7 , which I really like, 360, T-400 auto, so cool. Its a long term project because of time and money ( like most of us experience ). Anyway, the body is pretty much laying on the frame. The frame mounts for the body bushings are in great shape but the body portion of the mounts ( upper ) are rusted away for the biggest part. Are the body mount portions sold? Or what have some of you guys done that have had the same problems? Buying a new body is out of the question. Any experience and ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Rick

Some of these captured nuts are available such as the front toe board which includes it, from Classic Enterprises Classic Enterprises - Restoration, Reproduction Parts for Studebaker, Jeep & Ford . Some you'll have to make on your own. That's the direction I took. I repaired a couple of them but it's scattered over a few pages of my build, it starts near the bottom of page 7 till around page 13 or so. 30th Aniversary build- 82 CJ-7 Renegade frame off - Page 7 - JeepForum.com
Here's the rear ones. I believe you can buy these but it's the whole rear piece not just the ends.

I welded a 1-1/2" square tube sub-frame under mine years ago. The firewall was sitting on the bell housing.

Each tub is different as to how much is rusted out.

Please put some pics on and then can help suggest better. :D

are you referring to the cage or the nut in the body or both the cage and nut?

on mine I accessed the cage nut from the top of the tub by cutting into the floor boards... you can look at my build page to get exact location where to start cutting. The cage I was able to soak and restore, after cutting out the spot welds. The nut it self I had refabricated with steel plate and the machinist drilled 7/16ths treads in each.

I'm referring to the cage and the nut, which looks to be part of the body ( tub ) mounts. The portion of the mounts that are attached to the frame all look great, but the thinner body mounts and nuts are completely gone ( rusted out ) in places. I did what one of the guys on here recommended for the front. I placed a 1/2" X 1" piece of metal in the place of the rubber mount. The lower radiator hose was sitting on the steering shaft. All the rest of the body mounts are gone and the tub is sitting on the frame in many places. I'm doing just a little at a time on the jeep ( time and bucks ) but whatever I do to it, I really want to do it right....just not sure how to get there.
