Ask me about my head light upgrade harness!!!
My AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l vacuum advance is leaking. It won't move when vacuum is applied and I can hear it leak. I figured out how to get every thing but the wheel that is under the rotor. Should I get a new dizzy or can I just replace the vacuum advance? I I can replace it how do I remove the wheel?

To just replace the vacuum advance remove the distributor cap and rotor.
The vacuum advance is held on with 2 screws and a small C clip holds on the arm.

Here is what it will look like. Well kinda. Actually the vacuum advance arm will be on the other side but you can see the 2 screws holding the vacuum advance on and you can also see the small C clip on the arm.

To remove the Stator (Trigger Wheel) pry it off with 2 screw drivers or I use a small puller.

Thanks Busa! I figured out how to take the 2 screw and clip off but the Trigger wheel was beating me down. I wasn't sure I there was a set screw or if prying was acceptable. I'll get my puller on it. Any idea of a part number or recommendation on where to grab a new one from?

When you remove the Stator (trigger wheel) be careful not to loose the roll pin between the stator and the shaft.
