Can anyone tell me what the chattering noise is in my 1980 CJ5 ? It's a T-176 I have this constant chattering noise in all gears. I took the shifter off and exposed the forks and gears. The gears look good but the shift forks have wear at the crown of the fork. I don't think that this is possible to have wear in this spot. I also noticed that the fork closest to the engine is loose. Could this be the chattering noise. I also noticed that the longest fork has some grind marks on it . It's the fork that piggy backs the most rear fork . Has anyone experienced this problem, and if you have can you tell me what the problem was .
