Well I finally broke down and bought my first jeep. It is a 1980 CJ5 with a 350. It came with an extra Transmission and Transfer Case . it runs good and needs some suspension work. I am a younger man who does not have a lot of money to put into it but looking to use it as a work and hunting vehicle. The body is in fair shape but the two front fenders are very bad. I was wondering if anyone had extra fenders they wanted to get rid of or where I could get a pair for a reasonable amount. Like I said before I don't have a lot of money so will be doing everything myself to keep down the cost. I will post pictures tomorrow. Also any good parts site or used part sites would help me out a bunch.

Welcome! Craigslist is a great source for used parts.
Or you can build flat fenders for pretty cheap

there is, I dont have the links handy right now. look on pirate4x4.com in the fabricators section. there should be a few builds in there.

White Rhino sells a DIY tube fender kit. I don't know how much you plan on spending.. but outside of someone parting a jeep out, you probably won't find anything for cheaper than this..

White Rhino Fabrication's Online Store

My fenders of my CJ5 are in pretty bad shape as well. I pulled them off and don't plan on using them. It gives me an excuse to buy the high-hood tube fenders, (Give's an extra 2-3 inches of tire clearance over regular tube/flat fenders) I've been looking at them for a while, just need more $$$ Lot's of welder's on craigslist producing them out of their home garages and selling them for affordable prices. If I only had a tube bender, I'd give it a try myself. Purchased a set of rock sliders 3/16 steel w/tubes for $220.

mhubacek, There is a guy on home named crash that does awesome work. I'd talk to him (if he still does that kind of thing), and he is local to you.

Good to know, do you know anyone with the type of fenders I'm talking about? I'll look for crash on home. Check these out, the picture on the left, this is what I want!

Just curious how much do you want for them. If they are not to bad price I could possibly make the drive or would you be interested in shipping them.

I don't really want to ship them so they are so big.

PMed you on price.

Your jeep looks about like mine did when I purchased it. It's amazing what you can do with a sheet of 1/16" aluminum diamond plate, some black multi-purpose caulk, and a box of sheetmetal screws. I use mine as a 2nd vehicle/hunting rig too. I have done almost the whole jeep now (including the rear of the tub for under AMC 150 bucks). Made templates out of construction paper or thin cardboard and then traced them on the diamondplate before cutting them out with my sawzall. Just my .02 but it does work well.... just take your time and you'll be amazed how good it looks. I caulked the sides and the top, but left the bottom open so if any water does get in, it and any dirt can run out.

The guy on craigslist selling these high hood fenders, custom makes the parts. He actually came to my garage to take measurements of my CJ5 for rock sliders. He said he can customize those high hood fenders to fit. We'll see I guess! As you can see with my latest jeep pictures, that's last on my priority list!
