cj3b and tires

I have a set of 15x8.5 alu. wheels. Without going to a big lift what size tire would fit this best. Needs to be about stock height but with big feet. thanks

The height is not so much a problem as the width. Mine has the stock 15" wheel and 7.00 x 15 tires(old style measurement) and they rub on the inside of the rear wheel house when you twist up at all and the fronts rub on the springs when you turn, sure you can adjust the stops out but it's not a very tight turning radius as it is.The stock wheel is 15x6" I believe and 4" backspace if memory serves.
The backspace is gona be the key I think and you might get away with 31 x 10.5.
