Hi,

I'm doing a complete restoration on '76 CJ5 and I'm having a hard time finding the right Transmission /Transfer Case skid plate. I guess this is because I'm not sure which one I need. I bought the Jeep in boxes of parts. It has a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a T-18 and Dana 300 . The skidplate I purchased from someone on eBay is too wide and sits to far back on the frame. Any help and pictures would be great.

Should be the same at this:

Just to cloud the water. I just bought a T-18 / Dana 20 from a 76 CJ. The Transmission mount was not on a skid plate at all but just a cross member about 8" wide.
I think the one in Brock's picture is the one you want, what ever you have to do to get it. I am just not sure if it is the one that was on it to begin with. The Dana 300 tells us right off that it is not a stock set up.

I think its probably the right one to. It is the only either one I can find and it is different from the one I purchased off of eBay. Should my CJ have had a Dana 20 ? Like I said it came in a pile of parts and the 300 was included with no skid plate.

The plot thickens.
the 300 didn't come out for a few more years, Do you have some pictures of the tranny? It would help to see shots of both sides of it.
