cj7 auto trans issue

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]i just picked up this jeep cheap. its a 76 cj7 V8 304 automatic. not sure which trans yet. havent had a chance to check it out. but the main issue is when you go from park to drive, it chirps the tires, jumps hard and dies off. im assuming its a shifter cable/linkage that could hopefully be adjusted to fix this. if anyone has any ideas or info or links let me know. ill be trying to fix it this weekend. im trying to do this without pulling the trans out but we'l see.. thanks guys!! I have a couple ?'s. How fast is the idle? What gears are you running?
Do you know if the Transmission is still all stock?

ooof. i just picked it up yesterday lol. the idle is awful and right now it really doesnt run that good if it stays running. i dont know how it drives at all. i dont know gears and no clue if its stock or not i get to start digging this weekend so i can try and report a bit more info then.

I'm with Old Dog on this one. "usually idle and/or gearing" would cause this. Also maybe motor/Tranny mount?.
