My learning experience with a Clifford Valve Cover I purchased for a 76 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l :
The valve cover was pricey, especially as it came unpainted
The gasket provided would not fit without trimming. I opted to buy an original style felpro cork gasket with alignment tabs, and cleaned up the indicated slots on the cover to fit (see pic 15 green arrow for exampple)
The valve cover required several dry fits so I could grind out the reliefs to clear several of the head bolts (see blue arrow pic 15 for an example). The provided weatherstrip glue worked perfectly to attach the gasket to the cover. Follow the directions closely after 'fitting' the cover and gasket, and you'll be good.
