Looking for input from what brand/company did you get you clutch kit from. 99% of the time I use parts from Napa, and haven't been let down yet. Napa has a complete clutch kit(throw out and pilot bearings too) for $155 + tax and Centerforce wants $400 + tax for plate and disk only. That said, I'm a huge fan of overkill but not of BS hype that some companies claim as to why their product is so much better than anything else. I'm going to be dropping the T case to do the 4-1 low gears and rebuild, and thought I might as well do the clutch kit and rear oil main while I'm this far into it. The goal is to tear everything down in early June, so I want to make a choice on the clutch brand so I can have the parts on the bench ready to go. Looking forward to hearing what others have chosen and how it has held up for you :chug:

:)No question Centerforce builds a nice US made product , have used several with no regrets going back to the days when they were then called Hays clutch's and were involved with Mr.Gasket ..........most of the current aftermarket auto products including gears are now coming from India...........If you have a good comfort level with the NAPA stuff go for it...........I would also get your flywheel ground.

Last time I ordered clutch parts from Napa, they were using Clutch Master. I dont think you can really go wrong there.

And FYI, I have been using stock clutch parts for years without any issues....behind 4cyl, 6cyl, and V8 engines in my CJ. No slipping, and average wear. I personally think Centerforce is un-needed and overpriced. And there's just no need for heavy duty clutches

I just picked up a clutch kit from NAPA a couple months back, probably the same kit. They are re-branded LUX brand clutches. From what I've read or been told they are a quality clutch. I haven't installed it yet. (not to that point in my build yet)

I would say "Overkill" is what you want here Hole, due to the increased torque load to the clutch that will be applied after installing those low gears. I installed a Centerforce II in my CJ around 10-15 years ago and it is still holding up just fine. If I multiply all of my gear ratios it comes out to 103 to 1 forward at the lowest combination. It is always good to hear that N.A.P.A provides quality parts.

I am considering the Centerforce, but in the end I will probably go with the Napa kit. My thinking is the clutch will see less use after the lower gears are installed being that I shouldn't have to be clutching it to slowly get over a rocky section of the trail. I also keep thinking about how I use my CJ, I drive it like an old man, avoid mud and water, mostly used on desert roads in search of isolation. Besides, I can take the money that I would have spent on overkill and get a 1k rounds of 223 so I'll have something to do when find that isolation spot ;)
I appreciate all the responses and glad to hear some good feed back about the Napa clutches .
