Got everything put back in and when connecting clutch ball fell out. Is there any way to get it back in there without pulling whole thing down again? Thouhyt maybe a rather strong magnet. Thoughts/advise?

You could get a pair of pliers and nibble a hole in your bell housing big enough to pull the fork out.

...... Essentially you are screwed ...... What happened? Did the spring holding your fork and ball in place come detached somehow? But now that you've done it once you'll be surprised at how much quicker the job will be.

I did think about that for about a half a second. LMAO... Well, after more research I feel very very stupid.... I think I put in throw out bearing wrong direction. I believe I put it in with the spinning side towards the tranny and not the clutch. So, looks like tomorrow on my day off pulling tranny back down.

So, the ball is still where it should be? That's good. THe throw out bearing in backwards ....... oooopppss. Haven't ,but came close to making that mistake once. I bet you'll never have to re-learn this one ever again. Don't wory too much it will go faster and easier than it did the first time.

How difficult was it to put in the top dust shield/spacer without removing the fly-wheel? I honestly don't remember what was necesary to put mine on.

Yeah, I promise will never make that mistake again.. Haha.. Plate was easy to put in, just had to take out those tube things you told me about and it was easy from there. Yeah and I am sure will be easier. The toughest part was keeping it centered on jack while I lifted it up, then trying to get bell housing flush against engine to bolt in.

Those would be the alignment dowels.......the machine shop destroyed mine when they rebuilt the engine. Luckily, they're still a viable part number. (....you did re-install them.....?)

He knows they need to be there, he couldn't remember having them or not. We talked about how they are used to index the engine/Transmission properly when putting thins back together.

Yeah, the only reason I asked was because mine got destroyed when the machine shop removed them. I was "stuck" during the rebuild waiting for the new ones to arrive. I was almost to the point of buying a couple of 9/16" diameter bolts and making a set of solid ones.
