dana 30 gears...84 cj swap to 3.73..lookin for info on gear and carrier donors

im swapping in a Dana 44 rear w/ 3.73s with trac-loc ...need to match front gears on a budget have access to grand chero parts f/ a buddy so i was lookin for any info on if the carrier and 3.73 is compatible, my axle is a Dana 30 off an 84 CJ7 the person has a 90's cherokee and grand chero...any suggestions for other donor vehicles would be great too so i can hit up my local part junkies and junkyard...thanks in advance for any help...
unrelated info.. im tossin in a spartan lunchbox locker up front when i swap the gears...and yes i know i coulda bought the gears and carrier if i hadn't already ordered the spartan...but got a great deal on it

You need the donor parts from a low pinion Dana 30 . Most of the jeeps from the era you are talking about have high-pinion Dana 30 's and the carriers and gears are not compatable. TJ D30s went back to low pinion. Your best bet is stuff from the CJ era and IIRC the TJ carriers and gears will also work. XJ/YJ/MJ/ZJ/WJ/JK will not work. Used stuff and even new carriers can be had cheap on ebay. Just make sure it is for a low pinion

thanks havn't had to work w diffs on anything newer than 86 and when i do its uasualy just seals and fluid for friends ,also usually have what i need in my stock pile ...opened up all 6 of my d 30 fronts lookin for the match and found none...and as usual tag id's missing or rusted off...guess i have to wait 2 weeks for payday then shipping time....thanks again...
