hello i was wondering on how good the Dana 44 stand up to abuse or if there is a beter rearend that will handle a 400+ hp motor was thinking about cutting a ford 9 to put under it before i break the 44 unless that would not be any beter than what i have

I'd go with the 9". Just make sure you get the big bearing one so you can stick some beefie axles in it.
And truss it of course.

i have 4 link on it now and it will have something for sure and full spool too keeps me strait on the 20 wide paddles in sand

My vote goes to the 9"

Big fan of run what you have till it breaks but have the replacement ready to drop in when it does

What about a D60 or 14bolt Since for sand clearance isn't as big of an issue? A 9" will still take a number of aftermarket options to be bullet proof but def a step up from Dana 44 although with aftermarket trusses, chromolly axles etc it could be argued they are similar strength
