I didn't even hear it go?

And a non-greaseable Spicer 5-760X

Gonna play ya gotta pay. :D

I learned when you install new u-joint you can run a little tack wield on the cap and on the axle. When the tack wield brakes it's time for a new axle shaft and u-joints. Before you go wheeling you can check to make sure your axles and u-joints are still in good shape.

I've heard it done, but have never tried it. Thinking I will this time.

Thanks. :D

I have my JK joints tacked and no problems. I have seen more than a few local guys spit the caps and destroy the shafts.

Good one there 73CJ, working that front axle a bit hard are we? Thanks for sending that one in.

^^^what Pete said^^^:D

Well dang...Right there's your problem! :D

I must admit that I have never heard of the tack weld thing and really don't understand what is acomplishes. Please explain??:o

Dang old skinny pedal got ya again I see.
It looks like you gave them ears a good beating.

I've seen caps tacked as a trail fix for a broken yoke tab.
I don't think that would be to good on the needles though as an, all the time thing to do.

I was thinking of a buddy with a TIG? :D

I once saw a Dana 30 u-joint try to push out a c-clip. This was at Moab where it is like driving on concrete. The guy had full time lockers with 35s, that u-joint was really stressed out. I can see where a tack weld can help keep things together.
