Just completed the rear shackles upgrade-greasable Daystar urethane bushing kit. Removing the old bushings was about as pleasurable as a route canal!!! I ws struggling to figure out how tight to tighten the Shackle bolts (I used the stock shackles). I ended up tightening to 10 lbs each-nylock nuts. The bushings have really thin sholders and at 10 lbs it still appered the shackles were pressing against the bushings. Does anyone have any experience/advice with the daystar kits?

With just the bushing kit alone or even the whole spring shackle kit, I would think that there should be some tightning specs with it. If there wasn't maybe a call to the manufacturer should be in order since you don't want to overtighten against those sleeves. From what I saw, you should be using aftermarket shackles and not the oem type, since there are two different types of bushings.

I ended up tightening to 10 ft lbs. I installed the front set today. Good grief what a difference. For $42.00 per end this was a great investment. I drove the Jeep today, went up to about 55mph-unbelievable difference. I did use the factory shackles-seem to work fine so far.:D

Just finished the front Bushing Kit Monday. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Granted, the new steering box hepled, but the bushing kit made it go from "squirrelly" to straight on the road. Tires and wheels are coming so hopefully that will add tot he driv-a-bility as well....

Couple of pics of the tires. Dura Trac, Goodyear 235/75/15, on Unique steel wheels. Huge difference in weight-this combo is MUCH lighter than the jakemans and the Mudtracs. Jeep REALLY drives well now!
