Degrease engine

Going to degrease my engine today and wanted to find out what I need to make sure doesn't get wet. Saw another thread where person had issues with vehicle running smooth after power washing engine. Thank you.

Block off the carb with a rag and cover the distributor cap. Make sure any of those so called enviros don't see you, we are supposed to be in a drought here in the West.

Lol... Aint that the truth... Hope they dont forget that my jeep will drive right over their prius'.... haha.

I usually leave the air cleaner on and put a garbage bag over the air cleaner and carb. I usually cover the distributor as well, and make sure that all the vacuum lines and breathers are covered.

I am always amazed to hear how difficult things can be. How do I degrease my engine. ..... sometimes drive it to get things hot and loosen the grease, sometimes don't drive it. ......... If it's bad, spray it down with a degreaser or not depending on whether or not I have degreaser handy. ......... Drive to the spray car wash and spray the thing down trying not to put too much water pressure on the distributor and don't spray DOWN the air intake. Start the engine and drive away, easy enough. I think once in 34 years of driving the distributor cap got wet, 30 seconds with a dry cloth and down the road we went.

The other methods are good ideas, easy to do, but a little common sense with the spray hose is all it really takes.
