Afternoon all: hoping the weekend works out for you whatever you have planned

Want to change diff fluids this weekend. (1986 CJ-7) Quadratec shows gaskets for both the front 30 and the rear 20.

Question: are these gaskets needed or will a good coat of RTV work?

What is your opinions???

On my JK it was recommended not to use a gasket but that was using aftermarket covers not O.E. although when I removed the O.E. there was no gasket on there.

thanks for the input

Front is a dana 30. I use gaskets myself. I was going to try those lube locker gaskets next that are supposed to be reusable.

I use a gasket with rtv on both sides. I guess I like to make sure it doesn't leak but that's just me.
My Jeep has enough other leaks :D

i run a bead of rtv around the covor and bolt holes and slap her on. never had a problem. i used to work on a racecar and it lived off rtv.

I replaced my 30 year old rubber gasket in my AMC 20 with some silicone. I always use gaskets with everything.
