Distributor Question

hi guys, i have a 82 CJ7 with AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ,and I though about upgrading the distributor to a dui,engine runs fine now,would this be a good upgrade?Or just keep the one i have in it,u're comments are appreciated.

If it runs good now why mess with it?
Tinkering with stuff can be fun and a good way to get rid of unwanted cash and if that's the case then maybe do it otherwise not. It may make a small improvement but not gona be life changing in any way.
Just my 2c.

If you are gonna do it, the D.U.I. is a good choice- I have had issues with mine- a cheaper knock off unit on my 360- mostly with the drive gears not working together properly, but it did wake up my motor. I hear that is not an issue with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 's. A 50,000 volt spark and an .045 plug gap can pep up an engine. There are other ways of achieving this, but a one wire drop in dizzy sure makes it easy.

HEI is a good ignition system. Better than what your AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l has. We've talked about this before. Check out these links:
