I hope I save at least one person a huge headache.

I was stripping the interior of my tub and there are just too many places hard to reach. I called a few companies and chose the Dustless system after some hype.

Anyway, Any video of this you see is deceiving. It is just as messy as normal blasting but now it is in you driveway. The use of water is bitter sweet. It keeps the dust cloud at a minimum but I now have packed damp paint/media in every crack of the jeep that needs to be picked out.

On the video it shows them leaving one handles, glass, chrome. I guarantee all of that will be ruined. The amount of over spray i have has now made ten times more work. I have spots of bare metal now inside my frame, behind the grill, between metal i will never be able to reach. Think of a three year old coloring.

The purpose of hiring a company was to reach places i could not with a wire wheel. Half of those, he could not get the angle of the gun as such to reach them either.

I am sure better technicians can do better jobs, I just wanted to save someone the headache. The only reason I chose this company is because i did not want to remove the tub at this time. Now I have rust where i never had rust before.Looks like I will be removing the tub now.

I guess The point I am trying to make is, It does work, It is fast, But it is certainly not able to do magic. In the end it is pushing media at AMC 150 PSI? and it maybe has less control than a traditional air only blaster. I would NEVER use water near bare metal. I do not care about the additive... I am now sanding surface rust off the entire jeep.

I forgot to ask,,

Does anyone have a recommendation for undercoating from a can that can go over bare metal.

I see 3m has cans ranging from $5-19 per can???

This is my other option underneath the body,, try to get all of the mud out of the cracks and the just coat.

I know you wanted to cut corners, but this type of job should never be done on the frame. I've done this job on my '64. It's not an easy job. Sorry to see this happen to you and hopefully others will lean from this. Without the proper training. One should not attempt this big of a job.

Tube removal is pertty easy, besides you most liely need new body mounts. I would also use a product similar to what I got from EastWood called Fast Etch. It converts surface rust to zinc phosphate which can be painted over. I've been using it on everything in my froame off resto. I really like it. Your results may vary. Rattle can under coating is not much better than paint. Find a good quality undercoat and spray it on with a gun. Yes you need to remove the tube, but if you don't do it at this point you will wish you had on down the road. Two guys can lift the tub off or use an engine hoist tied into the middle to remove. Hope this helps. PS: Check my profile for a couple of pictures of my frame after using the fsat etch. Rod

Doesn't look like you got a quality job regardless of the water factor.I have had three vehicles stripped with a blaster using ground walnut shell media.this removes paint and bondo. For rust and undercoating a little work with a sandblaster will take care of those areas. Either primer with epoxy primer or if you live in a area with low humididy I just kept in warm garage while working on metal.I have had good results from the 3M Undercoating in the rattle can, appling over primer. 14 years on my 1966 ford pu. in the fenderwells. Makes it easy if it's on a rotisserie

Tub is off, still picking glass out of every imaginable spot. Originally I was going to use dry ice blasting in just the tub, but this business (they use both systems) insisted the dustless was the way to go.

I can't really describe how caked the media is. Air will not budge it, It has to be physically loosened. I am going around with a china brush and vacuum and then with the compressor. This is the biggest mistake I have made in 30 years of fooling with cars.
What really sucks is the media is so fine it is in everything. I have everything ear plugged, then plastic bagged and rubber banded. I do not want to ever take the master cylinder off because of the media everywhere. Bad enough I had to pump down the AC. Hopefully nothing gets in there.

I have all of my primer and top coat coming from Southern Polyurethanes this week. I hope to get the rest stripped and sprayed this week.
