I've been looking into upgrading to electric fan and settling on the Ford concour dual fan set up. The problem is that each fan pulls 35A and the inrush is about 70.
PO installed duralast dl7127mdp, 63A output. So, I feel that an upgrade to at least as 9 would be good (already have a York for air and planning on winch and lights).

Any suggestions on which alternator to get and if any wiring upgrades will be needed. Would like to avoid fabing any mounts, but willing to do any wiring necessary especially if any wiring diagram is available.

Thanks in advance

Use'n GOGGLE, will ans your questions.
Good luck as that conversion is very loud at times.

CS-144, plus plug and pulley

Posi, Do o really need a 170A alternator? I was thinking 100A will be enough for the most part.
Would i need to upgrade any wires and is it a bolt in?

Mine is not loud. I hear it at idle (sometimes) but not much. I would prefer mechanical to be honest, but for some reason I don't have the space for it. Weird.

CS-144, 94-96 Impala 5.7L, 93-96 Caprice 5.7L and 94-96 4.3L
= 140 amps Or you could go 12SI 100amps

Go to High Output Alternators & High Torque Starters website for your alternator. Great site and the folks there are willing to help over the phone.... I personally got tired of replacing my remanufactured alternator (4 times in last 2 years) and bought a new one. All of theirs are new and can build to any ones needs.

There is a calculator form at the bottom of the page that allows for the selection of 12 direct current.

I didn't think the answers - ac vs dc - were too different from other sources like

Circuit Wizard - Blue Sea Systems

but if it matters, blue sea provides a DC calc.

Luckily the Contour fan doesn't pull as many amps as the Taurus upon startup. When I built my system I used a Ford PDB and wired each fan to it's own 40 amp relay that is in turn controlled by two temperature sensors and a three way switch. It's been working great on my 360 since last year.

I have a sable fan that is wired through a 100amp constant duty solenoid. No issuse so far. It has a 40 amp self resetting breaker inline and has never tripped it on start up. Keep in mind when figuring the start up draw its just that.. a quick spike that any good battery will be able to handle. you draw alot more amps when starting the jeep then a e fan will on start up.
