I took my CJ out for a drive this weekend and she let me down. I drove to Home Depot fine. Started there and drove to my office. On the way to my office when I tried to dive at high speed (50mph) the engine would die out and start back firing. I left it running while I went into the office to grab some tings. When I left my office it made it about 1/2 mile and shut off. When I try to start it now it will run for a second or 2 then shut off. It will rev and then stutter while running.
Fuel is flowing and plugs are sparking. Any ideas about what to check next would be appreciated.

Timing slip?

Points?

I'm betting possibly the distributor bolt has loosened a little and it's turned some? With the engine off, try to rotate the distributor by hand and see if it moves?

My best guess...

Turned out to be the fuel lines. The person who had it before me did not use the proper lines and they was deterioration inside of the lines. The chunks that had come loose had mostly clogged the lines not allowing enough fuel to pass through.
