I'm needing to wire up my f head. When I got this jeep there was no motor, I've now put in an f head and I'm fairly certain thats what came in this frame. But I've got a massive amount of wiring and I don't have the slightest idea where to start. Anyone have a wiring diagram or a tip on where to start? How do these generators wire up?

If you don't have the FSM for your model/year I suggest you get one, You can find reprints at Faxon and on Ebay. I have Jeep Univeral service manual sm-1046 for my 64 and has all you need to know and more.

Yeah maybe I'll check them out. As of now it looks like I'm going to have to rewire this thing. There are two sections of wiring, both have foot switches on them. One set has the headlight plugs and the other had a starter solenoid on it as well as a goofy box I think was a regulator for the generator. I discovered some of the internals were broken, so I pulled that and the generator in favor of a generic alternator off a small block chevy. I'm going to work from this. I think there are tons of wires I'm not going to be using, so I may dissect the looms, at least the starter/alternator loom.

Sounds like fun.:rolleyes:I completely rewired my 3b but it is stock and my original loom was intack so I just duplicated was was there. Was a bit tricky as I recall doing the turn signal switch but all worked out.
Good Luck!

Yeah, I started gutting my stock harness. There are so many wires, I don't understand how this can have so many. I think that I have two harnesses, but I can't decipher them from one another, so just chopping out what I know I need and going from there.

started it tonight! It runs, pretty pumped for that. Have a serious amount of wires to cut out though, I'll snag a pic of them tomorrow.
