Don't think Jeep CJ's ever had any, and I know mine does not.

I ordered insulation material from Summit Racing when I took the tub off the frame I insulated the firewall and a portion of the Transmission tunnel.

Ok, that's what I was thinking of doing. That and wrapping the exhaust in that area. I have a stainless steel exhaust so hopefully moisture and corrosion are less of an issue.
