Fluid change

Ok, I just got done doing the diffs and was thinking about diving into the tranny and Transfer Case to change them. Where do I find markings for Transmission type for gasket and what fluid? On the Dana 300 , what type of fluid and is there a filter?

No need for a gasket both have a drain plug at the bottem and a fill plug up by the top. They take the same thing you put in your axles.

IIRC the Dana 300 likes GL4 75-90w. Ditto, no gasket required, drain and fill plugs. Your profile says 5spd so I assume it's a T-5 . If so, Penzoil Syncromesh works great in them.

I use gl5 80-90 in the 300, There should be a hole through the skid plate to get to the drain plug.

Thanks guys! An I to assume there are specific amounts if fluid. Are there dipsticks or do you just measure

Taking skid plate off anyway to clean it. This vehicle has been leaking for probably ten years with no clean up or snything

It'd be easier to get one of the gallon jugs of fluid that has the pump in the top. You dont have to pour it out, just pump it... I found gear oil frequently comes in those. Usually that pump is a universal type that will screw into the top of another fluid jug
