1976 CJ7 Jeep with a engine/tranny/wiring harness out of a 1988 s10 blazer 4.3l v6 with th700r4 automatic tranny and a cj7 Dana 300 transfer case with Novak adapter.
Complete wiring harness from the s10 blazer. Painted with HOT PINK Pearl paint with standard sized metallic halographic pink flakes. Painted by me -a newb. New rear, front and side three wire LED lights, New parts, new custom dash-by me And a lot of guidance from fellow jeepers and lots of prayers etc.... :p
Hey fellow jeepers!

I recently bought a dual fan with shroud for a Ford Focus 2000 to retrofit on my CJ7 . These measures just over 27 inches wide and just over 15 inches tall and it's about 3 to 4 inches thick.

I'm looking to see you all people would mount that I think I will need like a metal frame so one bounce back and forth on the radiator fins so any ideas in a simple modifications that someone has made or bought offline?

Thanks bunches!!!!! ;)

Also, may I get some advice on the best way to wire the resistor to the fans? ( I hope to use a painless dual relay for the fans and a fan probe that reads the temp. Which temp switch is best? 180, 190 or 195 or something else?

Thanks again!

Hmmmm. Nobody? :confused:

When I was looking at mounting mine, I saw online where someone used aluminum stock and made a square that the fan housing was mounted to. The aluminum stock extended left and right and was bolted to the back of the CJ grill.

And I don't know that is best, but I have my temp sensor set to 190 degrees. It works for me.

Gr8dain thanks for your comment...
You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the build, would ya? :p

I knew you would ask. It was 2 years ago and I did not save the pic. But let me try my google foo.

I ended up using the "zip thingies".

No pics. :(

That should work. I was unable to find the pic I was referring to, but it was pretty rudimentary.

I'm sure you are being modest.. :rolleyes:
But thats okay. ;)

I can take a pic. But mine is literally just zip ties through the holes in the shroud wrapped around the radiator tanks. The aluminum stock setup was someone else's I found online. Sorry. But O think that link will serve you better.

Oh, I see. No, i think the link had some decent pics. Thanks for the help!!!!:chug:

The Contour/Mystique dual fan fits V8 CJ's better with tighter tolerances so no air leaks around the shroud, defeating it's purpose. (Path of least resistance) I reckon you can fill the gaps with panels of some sort but it's critical that all of the air is going through the shroud. Also I'd advise against using a radiator fin probe and go with the threaded type that makes for a permanaent mod. eventually the probes can work loose or in my case when it failed it abraded one of the radiator tubes causing a non-repairable leak!

These are pics of my setup with a Mystique shroud.

Thanks turbogus!
Exactly what I was wanting to find!
Great pictures.. That is a tremendous help!
:chug:
I was going to use the radiator prob until I read your response. Don't need issues with the cj later on.
:(

Thanks again!!!!!:notworthy:

Agreed about the probe. I used one as a temporary sensor until it failed on me. Went with the inline threaded sensor and it is the ONLY way to go.

...and if you have no port to thread one of these into these sleeves can help, they're available from Summit Racing and elsewhere;

Thanks guys!!! :ty::rock:

I could not get this to work with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . just not enough room for the shroud and the water pump pulley.:cool:
