I have a stock 1985 CJ-7 with 258 inline 6 engine 4 speed amc 20 rear diff. with 2.71 gear ratio.
1967 Camaro convertible. (for sale).
2001 F-250 Crew cab, 7.3 diesel.
2005 Honda TRX 350 EX quad.
I have an 85 CJ7 . Over the winter, I would like to put in gauges and indicator lights that are centered around the steering post. I have access to led's for the turn signals and bright light indicator. Does anyone know of aftermarket gauge pods that would be a starting point. I've been looking at CJ pic's on the web but I haven't seen anything out there yet. I could build something but I usually do better if I can copy something I like.

I hadn't thought much about the gauges, sounds great.
I had a thought about making an oak, or other cool wooden dash pad.

Nordskog digitals-does mater what size tires, you calibrate it. Bezels look big, but its the reflection

I had a great idea for a custom dash, and even worked with a fabricator that used to frequent this forum and others.
He drew up real nice 3-D plans and (I thought) we had it all worked out, then he just dropped out of site. I wish I could get the plans on here to show ya, but I haven't figured that out yet (and I may still try and build it myself).
Anyways, it was a full dash replacement, with a center pushout where all the gauges were to be. Would have been real nice looking if his metal work was as good as his computer skills...<sigh>

If you're looking to put together a completely custom dash call Dan at Double D Fab (Double D Fab). His number is 717-419-5283. He does great top quality work. He makes the dash completely to your directions and sends you a 3D pdf rendition prior to starting the work. He just completed a custom dash for my `63 CJ5 and the price was VERY reasonable. If you go to his web site he has a lot of pictures of his craftsmanship.

Wow, this is interesting. Thanks for the info. Just what I need.

I finally added gauges up front so I could see what was going on. I had to replace the gas gauge anyway so my daughter wouldn't get stranded. The red light on the left is my "park brake on" light. The yellow lights in the center are my turn signal indicators. The right purple light is "hi beam". I have a volt gauge coming. I might put it on top of the water temp gauge.

Where did you get the gauges? Also for the fuel gauge did it work with the stock sending unit or did you have to add a separate aftermarket one to the fuel tank?

These are Auto Meter, Phantom gauges. I got them from Jegs.com. I picked the fuel gauge that matched the stock sender, 73 ohms empty, 10 ohms full. There are several choices. I did put in a new sender from Quadratech but that was just because I am picky and it looked original. (27 years old). The gauges also came with covers for the lights to give them a green or red tint. I might try the green ones out.
