I normally leave my top on minus the zip out windows and the top half of the doors. Yesterday I decided to bring the Jeep to work with no top at all and just the half doors. Well, here in New England we have had the hottest three days of this year so far and broke a couple heat records. I knew it was going to start raining but the weather estimated around 11 pm before it got here. No big deal since I planned on getting out a little early around 3 pm.
I work in a dairy plant as an engineer and I was in a room with no windows doing an installation on a machine. One of my mechanics came to me and said "hey Matt, it is down pouring something fierce right now". This was right around 4pm. I couldn't get out there to put the partial top on and didn't really feel like standing in the down pouring rain to do so I just left it. Well due to issues I never got out of the plant until 5:45 and by that time about 25 people came over to me to let me know how screwed I am. They said it looked like we got an inch of rain in about twenty minutes. Awesome.
The ride home on trash bags was nice and wet. I could barely see out of the window with the rain on the inside as much as out. The highways were flooded partially and my CJ5 does not like that very much when the puddles grab my mud tires and try to rip the Jeep off the road. People who were passing me were slowing down as they got next to me to watch the idiot in the Jeep with no windows. I still felt cool in my 5. Screw-em. So I watched the news when I got home and several towns were flooded and people were losing power everywhere. The storm was pretty severe. When I do thing I make sure I do them right, even driving in the rain. Now it is time to head outside to the get Jeep out for some sun drying today. I hope the weather holds so my seats can dry.
