So what year hard tops fit what year Jeeps? I have a 82 CJ7 and want to get a hardtop. What years/Jeep models will be compatible? If this has been threaded already, I apologize. I looked, but couldn't find one.

76 and newer CJ will fit yours.

For $1500, Rally Tops makes a wicked good top, but thats more than I paid for my jeep, and doesn't include doors, I think...

Pretty much any year CJ7 top will fit as well as yj tops. I advise to stay away from the YJ top however because of the difference in how the latch closes, the latch closes and then the tail gate, this means to open it you will have to crawl through the front and unlatch the tailgate from the inside everytime.

76 to 82 hardtops are alot heavier due to the construction. 82 plus are lighter and will generally have a dome light in them. I'd say look for an 82+ Cj top to pop up.
